NUTRITION BOOKS
Never before have people had such a wide variety of foods available to them. And never before has obesity and chronic illness been such a problem. Over the last five decades the balance of minerals, vitamins and essential fats consumed by the average person has changed drastically — for the worse. People eat 34% less vegetables and 66% less fish than 50 years ago. No wonder that nutrition is such a confusing subject — or that there are so many nutrition books out there.
All nutrition books will tell you that obesity is one of the results of eating unwisely, but a good nutrition book will point out that poor nutrition is also tied into diseases such cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, and certain cancers. Mental disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Alzheimer’s have also been linked to nutrition deficits.
Common sense dictates that a healthy diet is the prescription for a healthier lifestyle, but common sense doesn’t tell you just what a healthy diet is. A good nutrition book can set you straight on what foods to eat, but you will also need to add some physical activity to your daily schedule to maximize your mental and physical well-being.
Basic Health Publications offers an array of nutrition books to get you started on a healthier lifestyle. Just as there is no one-size-fits-all exercise plan, there is no magical single solution to good nutrition, which is why these nutrition books offer such a different approach to nutrition.
